There was plenty of blame to go around for RISDIC's collapse. It was generally believed that some bankers and their friends in the previous administration of Governor Edward DiPrete, along with certain members of the General Assembly, had conspired to keep the banks under RISDIC when a federal insurer such as the FDIC had stricter regulations that could have avoided the crash.
