In 1906, Myers' grandfather, William Kurtz, established the original 210 acre farm with frontage on Indiana 63, about 112 miles south of Prairieton. Myers' mother, Goldie, inherited the land and later divided the acreage among Myers and his sisters, Reba Vencel and Christine Allen. The siblings then gave each of their children parcels of cropland.
